2016 has started in a busy, busy for Brooklyn & I both. Between the two of us in the first 11 weeks of the year we have run 7 marathons, 5 half marathons, 2 5ks, and an ultra marathon. Talk about busy! Now that I’ve hit my break for the season, Here’s a quick recap of the fun.
Jan 9 – Mississippi Blues Marathon – Jackson, MS
I ran the full marathon, Brooklyn ran the half with Lisa who was visiting with us.
Jan 10 – First Light Marathon – Mobile, AL
Brooklyn and Lisa ran the half marathon completing the Back to Back Challenge, I cheered on runners and drank mimosas.
Jan 16 & 17 – The Louisiana Marathon – Baton Rouge, LA
Joined for the weekend by Lisa all 3 of us ran the 5k on Saturday and then on Sunday I ran the full marathon leading the 4:00 Pace Group while Brooklyn and Lisa ran the half marathon.
Jan 31 – Big Beach Marathon – Gulf Shores, AL
In a last minute addition I led the 4:25 pace group for the full marathon at this Inaugural event in Alabama.
Feb 14 – Sketchers Los Angeles Marathon – Los Angeles, CA
Brooklyn & I both ran the marathon. It was a memorable race for us for a number of reasons.
Feb 21 – runDisney Princess Half Marathon – Walt Disney World
The next week I took a weekend at home to relax while Brooklyn went to WDW for the Princess Half.
Feb 28 – Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans – New Orleans, LA
Another weekend, another trip to Louisiana for RnR NOLA. Brooklyn ran the half, I ran the full marathon. Fun times and beignets were had by all.
March 5 – Carl Touchstone Memorial 50k – Laurel, MS
Brooklyn tackled a 50k ultra marathon! I tackled a bottle of champagne with a splash of orange juice.
March 13 – Zydeco Marathon – Lafayette, LA
For a 5th consecutive weekend we hit the road and found ourselves back in Louisiana. (For the 3rd time this year). I led the 4:30 marathon pace group.
