1) Marathon Registration
This week I registered for both the Garmin Marathon in the Land of Oz and the Rock n Roll New Orleans Marathon. As of right now Garmin will be my 19th marathon and my 16th different state! I ran RnR NOLA in 2012. It was my second marathon see and I finished in 4:01, but this is the race that I tore a hip flexor in and wasn’t able to run for several months afterwards. I’m looking to break 4 hours here and gain a little redemption. I also scored a $10 discount on registration from my friend Heather at Through Heather’s Looking Glass!
2) runDisney Goofy Giveback
Apparently the guys over at runDisney can’t handle having their races not completely sell out. After several social media plans to fill the remaining slots for the Goofy Challenge in January they have launched a new campaign called the Goofy Giveback. Remaining bibs have been split up into separate half & full bibs opening registration for both events again. If you missed out on registration for one of those races in April, now is your second chance.
3) RnR New Orleans Bling Contest
Rock n Roll NOLA held a design your own bling contest last month. People were able to submit their custom designs for the marathon & half marathon medals. The top 3 were posted earlier this month and were voted on by runners. Yesterday the winning design was released. I’m happy with the medal design. utilizing the iconic Bourbon St. lightpost and sign really gives this medal a New Orleans flavor.
4) Out with the Blue, in with the new
After 600+ miles I finally bought new running shoes! Adidas Boost Glide, the same shoes I just finished running in. It’s a fantastic show and I highly recommend the entire Adidas Boost line of shoes.
5) 50 State Fundraising Update
I am still sitting at 27 states in my 50 state challenge. I need ideas to pick up steam and finish out the back half of the country.
