Happy New Year

The holidays have left my schedule packed with travel & training and I skipped a blog post or two. As the wrapped up 2012 last night I had my nose in my training log working out the finer details of my wrap up for the year. In 2012 through racing and training I ran a total of
5 marathons in 5 states
1 half marathon
1 Tough Mudder
2 10ks
1 8k
1 sprint triathlon
5 5ks
815.4 miles total
burned 91,886 calories. Based on a 2,000 calorie/ day diet I didn’t eat for 45.9 days this year. That’s the secret to weight loss my friends. What does 2013 have in store?
1) 5 more marathons in 5 more states.
2) Disney Goofy Challenge, Dumbo Double Dare, & Coast to Coast Challenge
3) Marathon PR
4) 5k PR
5) 1,000 miles total

I kick off 2013 with the Mississippi Blues Half Marathon, Disney Half, Disney Full, & Louisiana half all in January. Then I back down and rebuild mileage for Georgia & Cleveland.

QOTW: What are your 2013 goals?


    1. Yuuup. Next weekend is my first runDisney experience. Thanks to all the #teamrunDisney people it won’t be my last. I’d really like to do Wine & Dine also, but I’m already looking for one more marathon to add on to total 10 states by the end of the year.

  1. Wow, that’s a heckuva year for you. I just read the side of your blog and the fact that you were able to conquer a full marathon after running for less than a year is really, really impressive. I think some people think that it’s a bit too ambitious for me to try to run the Cleveland half after I only started picking up running in June 2012, but reading your story inspires me to keep pushing myself!

    In 2013, my goal is to successfully complete the Cleveland Marathon half-marathon in May and to successfully complete the Towpath Marathon in October 2013. Of course, I’d like to work in a few 5Ks and other runs of varying distances (all of which are TBD–I need to sit down and plan those out soon) throughout the course of the year as well.

    1. Wow Joe, thanks for the kind words. Once I started working toward a goal I just didn’t stop and it has resulted in some incredible opportunities and great friendships. One of my ultimate goals is to join the 50 state club (that’s where Cleveland comes in) I’m hoping I can catch the Indians/Mariners game while I’m in town.
