In December 2012, I ran the St. Jude Memphis Marathon as the culmination of 8 months of fundraising for the Children’s Hospital as a St. Jude Hero. As I was fundraising I learned about several patients & their families, some that have impacted my life forever just by knowing their story and seeing these children battle and conquer childhood cancers. I learned about the hospital and everything that it does for the patients & their families. I was lucky enough to tour the hospital the day before the race & experience first hand the St. Jude atmosphere. It is unlike any hospital or medical facility you’ve ever seen. It truly is a place of hope & promise.
This year I wanted to participate again & having feared that I had maxed out my resources last year I set my goal at a very modest $500 & registered for the st. Jude Memphis half marathon. Being gone for the summer then starting a new job at the start of the school year had slowed down my efforts quite a bit. However, coming off the heels of the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend I received word that there positions still available on the St. Jude Heroes team for the runDisney Tinkerbell Half Marathon in January. Yes Please! So I now have a separate goal for Tink of $1,500.
Here is where I currently stand on both fundraising campaigns.
If you follow my twitter or Instagram page you may have seen I made my own medal hanger with the artistic help of one of my best friends Mandi from Ursula to Ariel. I am offering a free medal hanger as a gift to those individuals who contribute a minimum of $25 donation to St. Jude on my Tinkerbell Half marathon page and send $12 via PayPal to cover shipping costs. Most medal hangers run $50+, this is 100% charitable donations (that you can write off in April). I can customize the middle designs to an extent, I don’t want to much strain on my artist, and add the number of hooks that you would like up to 10.
I also have a design for rectangle medal holders that support 15 medals.

Don’t forget to donate!
