Let the Racing Begin!

With each passingThe countdown has been on for months now. Looking forward to th end of the competitive marching band season and the kcikoff of my race season for 2014 – 2015. It is finally here! Our last marching band competition for the year was yesterday and I am less than a week away from the runDisney Wine & Dine Marathon.  I have a football game Friday night so it’ll be a late night drive to Birmingham for an early Saturday flight to Orlando, hanging around the WDW area all day getting ready for the race at 10pm that night before an early morning flight back on Sunday.  After not racing for the past 5 months, my race calendar between now and May is slam packed and includes 5 marathons, 5 half marathons, 3 10ks, and a 50 Miler!

I’m very excited to say that over the past week I registered as a St. Jude Hero to participate in the runDisney Pixie Dust Challenge in Disneyland next May! This weekend challenge includes the Tinkerbell 10k on Saturday and the Tinkerbell Half Marathon on Sunday.  This will be my 2nd time running Tinkerbell, my 3rd runDisney Coast to Coast Challenge, and more importantly it will be my 5th time running as a St. Jude Hero! When I first signed up as a hero for the 2012 St. Jude Memphis Marathon I never imagined I would enjoy fundraising so much. I went back and looked up my fundraising totals for past events and currently have a grad total of $8,174 raised for St. Jude since April 2012.  I still lack just over $1,000 to reach my goal before the Dopey Challenge weekend, but while I’m fundraising for Tinkerbell I should raise my 10,000 dollar! I am beyond humbled by all of my friends, family, and the running community for being as close as I am to reaching and surpassing that number. I can’t wait to hit that mark and run the Tinkerbell Half Marathon again!
