Earlier this week runDisney announced a new event to their west coast schedule, The Avengers Half Marathon Weekend in Disneyland.
The race weekend will take place in November. While this announcement excited many runDisney runners I was excited about something else. Registration for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon was opening the next day!
Wine and Dine is a unique race because the race doesn’t begin until 10 pm! The race falls just as high school football season is wrapping up so it has been hard to piece it into my schedule. I have looking forward to this race for 2 years and am excited to finally have the room in my schedule to run it. It took a lot of will power to turn it down last year, but I knew I wasn’t going to pass it up again.
There has been a lot of commotion about the price of runDisney races lately. Even more so after the price tag went up for the 2nd time in a year with the Avengers Half topping out at $195. With the way the events keep selling out so fast who can blame the Disney corporation for capitalizing on the popularity they have right now. For the price, Wine and Dine offers the best deal. Not only do you receive race entry and all that comes along with running and finishing a race in Walt Disney World, but you also get in to Epcot starting at 7 pm and a post race party that lasts in the park until 4 am! Free park time? Does Disney realize this? Plus, a $10 Disney gift card!
I’m all registered and ready to runDisney again! Looking forward to adding a 2014 Coast to Coast medal to my wall also.
To receive a Coast to Coast Challenge medal you must run a half marathon or further in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World in the same calendar year. Be sure to check back at my recap of the first race in my 2014 Coast to Coast Challenge the Tinkerbell Half Marathon.
