While I was away over the summer several races that I’m looking forward to released images of their finisher medals for this year including Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah.
This will be my first time running in Savannah and my 3rd and final RnR race of 2015. (Seriously, if you aren’t purchasing a Tour Pass at the beginning of the year you are wasting money on race entries). The finisher medals look great and features a depiction of the Waving Girl statue found in Savannah. The “Waving Girl” was Florence Martus, who decided she was going to be the first and last thing that any ship would see sailing in or out of the Savannah port at the turn of the 20th century. For 44 years she would wave her towel during the day and a lantern at night to greet incoming ships… or so her legend says. The statue stands in Morrell Park in Savannah just a few blocks east of the starting line.
I’ll be earning this marathon finisher medal on November 7.
On Sunday, November 8, after running the marathon you have the opportunity to run the 5k, earn this medal and the RnR Remix medal for completing multiple events in one weekend. It’s hard to pass up 3 medals for 2 days of running.
and don’t forget! By running multiple RnR weekend events you earn entry into the Heavy Medals program. Since this will be my 3rd RnR event of the year I will be earning the Rock Trio medal. I received the Double Beat medal after RnR Nashville.
As an added bonus! I will also be qualifying for the Southern Charm medal. This challenge medal is earned for completing 3 of the 4 Southern US event weekends. (New Orleans, Raleigh, Nashville, and Savannah)
It’s going to be a fun filled (and medal filled) weekend in November. It’s not too late to join in the fun. You can find race information and register for RnR Savannah here. Don’t forget to use promo code “RUN8VA” for $15 off of registration.
