After getting home last week I’ve jumped right back into a full schedule of work, training, traveling, National Guard drills, and racing. School started back the day after I made it home, so I had one full day off to relax before getting back into the classroom. We have a full high school football schedule along with 2-3 after school rehearsals and a hand full of saturdays that are all taken up with marching band. Luckily, we have a bye week in September that allows me to travel to Ohio for the Grand Lake Marathon. I’ll be pacing the 4 hour finish group with the Marathon Maniacs Pace Team. I’m always thankful for the opportunity to run with my MM friends and family, they make me feel a sense of normalcy in wanting to run 10+ marathons a year.
After GLM I am all marching band until the end of October. We have state championships on October 24, so once that’s over I’ll be trying to squeeze in a few races starting with the New York City Marathon on November 1. This will be my first World Major Marathon (but definitely not my last) and I’m excited to get there. I have a few months between now and then though to fundraise for the John Ritter Foundation. That is the charity that I earned my race entry through.
The following weekend Brooklyn and I are traveling to Georgia for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon. This will be my 3rd RnR race this year and will earn me the Southern Charm Challenge medal for completing 3 out of 4 events. (RnR New Orleans, Raleigh, Nashville, & Savannah).
2 weeks after Savannah I’ll be running in the 10th Annual Route 66 Marathon in Tulsa, OK along with the currently registered 574 Marathon Maniacs! This race has always had a great turn out for Maniacs and I can’t wait to be part of the party this year.
2 weeks after Route 66 I will be running my 3rd St. Jude Memphis Marathon. I’m fundraising for this race also. #runalltheraces #raiseallthefunds I’ve raised over $10,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since April 2012, mostly through fundraising for this event the last 4 years. It is one of my favorite events of the year and one that I have vowed to never miss as long as it is within my power to go run.
The last half of the year looks to be as busy as ever. You can always keep up with my race and travel plans and schedule by visiting my Upcoming Events tab at the top of the page. If you’re going to be around at any of the races I’m running be sure to let me know!
